     The view here is across the basin ring to the N. A corner of the septic tank is visible to right.  Further back, a 5x5 ft. Unit is under excavation: the line level strings (white lines) are plainly visible, as is one of the excavators’ spoil buckets, waiting to be taken to the Sifter Station. In left foreground a group of red and blue flags on thin wires, record status of  cavities being entered into field logs, or further excavated and profiled.  Behind, and for scale, is a surveyor’s field transit, the legs of which are made from kitchen toothpicks, and the instrument barrel for which is a cut-down wire brad about ¾ in. long…
