profile along the W edge of the model block. Designations largely as
covered in previous caption profiles; the opening in foreground is
the “sectioned” entry to the “West Trench Extension” as I have
called it. At far rear, is the corresponding entry to the “East
Trench Extension.” Note
they do not “line up” as erroneously shown by some investigators,
notably Wheeler (Florida Anthropologist, Dec. 2000). The model also shows the
tiny “nipples” or
protuberances at bottom of the (suggested) cross-sectioned solution
pits. Similar
nipples quickly form
when one tries to “peck” an artificial hole into the limestone,
using a shell spud as did the Indians…
