     Shows washed “fines” beneath sifter; shell fragments on the ground, and (in sifter), two actually recovered columellae. Shell fragments, ground-surface texture, tools, grasses and weeds – all enhance the model’s realistic aspect.  This was always a muddy, wet spot during the dig: I duplicated the wet rivulets in the spoil pile,  by dribbling water itself onto my simulated (plaster-of-paris) spoil pile in the model, while the plaster was yet wet, and before it was painted…
